First takes

Welcome to the preliminary explorations of inequality by MUN students of History 1013. This course is a one-semester, first-year, research/writing course on the history of inequality in Canada. We explore how gender, race, class and national oppression have contributed to inequality and what people have done to bring about a more equal society.

As their final assignment for the term, students write a web page on a topic of their choice in the recent history of Canada. The suggested format is approximately 500 words with two or three images. The target audience is the general public, but students were asked to say something original that would not be readily available elsewhere on the web. They compiled annotated bibliographies of academic materials relevant to their topic earlier in the term, but the recommendations for further reading were selected for their accessibility.
